The Abilities Connection (TAC)
The Abilities Connection (TAC) is a nonprofit organization that serves people with disabilities and offers safe, inclusive workplaces to thrive. TAC employs about 120 staff members and provides nearly 300 individuals with disabilities many types of opportunities and care. What TAC does is best described via the mission statement: To empower people with disabilities and other barriers to reach their full potential in community settings of their choice. TAC is Clark Countys leading provider of services to people with disabilities and intends to continue for many years into the future. TAC offers employment nearly 300 people with disabilities are served at TAC; most of them come for employment. They have their choice of many vocational opportunities intended to help individuals advance on their path to more integrated employment. They receive a paycheck weekly and earn benefits. TAC has two facilities for employment, as well as several partner companies in the community that individuals may work at. TACs largest business customer is the United States Air Force, which contracts with TAC for cargo net manufacturing and repair. Other contracts are with local, national and international partners. These include Rittal Corporation, Sweet Manufacturing, Parker TruTech, HEF USA, Yamada North America, Inc., Yellow Springs Instruments, ITT, SK Tech and Cascade Corporation. TAC offers connections to people, places, events and the community. Many individuals with disabilities who come to TAC daily prefer to participate in the recreational, educational, and art activities. TAC creates the chance for them to be more independent, have new experiences, build self-confidence, and forge relationships with others. TAC creates a real and positive impact in the community by connecting people with disabilities to the world and offering options for volunteer activities, community involvement, community events and so much more.
